Pandemic Green Habits #1 – Repurposing Old Clothing

As people have been trying to get their hands on masks, many people have resorted to making their own. Handkerchiefs, shirts, and tank tops have all successfully been repurposed to make masks.

Reusing and repurposing clothes is a habit we all should continue after the coronavirus pandemic. This will prevent clothes from filling up landfills and even save you money. From making grocery bags to pillowcases and even quilts, there are many ways to repurpose old clothes.

Pandemic Green Habits #2 – Making Your Own Disinfectant

Due to the lack of disinfecting wipes available in stores, people have resorted to making their own disinfectants. Not only can this be cost-efficient, but it can also help keep bottles out of landfills and stop plastic from ending up in the ocean.

You can make a simple disinfectant spray by combining one gallon (about 31/2 litres) of water and one-third cup (about 75ml) of bleach. By using a reusable spray bottle, you won’t have to throw one out every time you run out.

Pandemic Green Habits #3 – Going for More Walks

With gyms being closed down, people have become creative with their workout routine. Many people have chosen to go for more walks to get their daily steps in. Not only is going on more walks healthier for you, but it can even help the environment.

Instead of going to the gym in the future, dedicate a couple of days to going for walks instead. Not only will you be saving gas / petrol, but also you will be using less electricity by getting out of the house.

Pandemic Green Habits #4 – More Time Spent Gardening

With more time and trips to the grocery store becoming more complicated, many people have resorted to gardening. Gardening comes with many benefits, for both people and the environment.

Gardening has many benefits for the environment, including reducing pollution and reducing your carbon footprint. In addition, it can help nourish the soil and help native wildlife strive. Not to mention you get some delicious fruits and vegetables, as well as beautiful flowers as a result of gardening.

Making Light of a Dark Situation

In some way or another, the coronavirus has affected everyone. This terrible virus has changed our way of living and caused lots of suffering. Despite all the pain and struggles it has caused, there are some good habits we can take from this pandemic to help the environment.
