Eco Friendly Christmas Gifts without Stuff – Give Time!

Give the gift of time!

What’s the one thing we all want more of, but can’t buy?

Time, of course!

So, give the gift of time!

Give a gift of an hour’s babysitting, or baking, or running errands, or computer help, or financial advice, or whatever you’re good at.  You don’t have to run around buying a gift, and you know the recipient will appreciate it.  I think this is a cool idea!  No manufacturing, no wastage, nothing to be stored, no space required, it doesn’t end up in a landfill, it’s a really warm, caring and eco friendly gift!

Eco Friendly Christmas Gifts without Stuff – Give Trees!

eco friendly Christmas gifts without stuff - treesPlant a tree as a gift!  Trees purify the air (they absorb CO2) and so reduce pollution.  They hold soil in place, preventing erosion and landslides.  They provide shade, sometimes fruit to eat, and a home for wildlife.  Trees provide us with products such as paper, stationery, furniture, ornaments.  If you think about the amount of wood products you  have used over your lifetime, don’t you think it makes sense to give back a tree?  Or several?

Plant trees to give back what you have used, and plant trees as a special gift for a loved one.

In the USA, visit Fast Growing Trees for beautifully packaged tree gifts. They are all trees that are easy to care for and look lovely. Fast shipping makes for easy gifting.

In the UK the Woodlands Trust offers a fabulous range of Christmas gifts. Or choose an even more green and eco-friendly virtual gift from a lovely range of options.

In South Africa, visit Heartwood Trees for beautiful tree gifts.  In Australia go to Greenfleet where you can combine a tree planting with carbon offsets too if you wish.

  • Planting trees is the important one for me. Too often we are seeing dozens if not hundreds of trees all around in local neighbourhoods being removed to make way for new roads etc. Never mind illegal logging on a whole different scale in other countries altogether.

  • Another list of great gift ideas. I especially like the suggestion to give a gift of time or service. Very cool.

  • All great ideas again…the idea that we can give gifts that will REALLY help people and change lives, not just give a fleeting moment of joy is truly life changing!

  • These are such great ideas! I would never have thought of half of these. Being “The Babysitting Lady,” I could certainly give free babysitting for gifts but since most of the people on my list would have no need for that, I will have to give your other ideas more thought.
