Some days, I think that everywhere I look on the internet, there’s some-or-other article on healthy food – or what not to eat because it’s bad for you. Which is great! But even some foods that are healthy, shouldn’t be eaten every day. So when it comes to meal planning, are there healthy foods that are safe to eat every day?

Luckily, there are, and I’ve listed 5 of them below. As with everything in life, balance is important. You want to make sure you’re getting a good mix of healthy foods.

You can mix-and-match these 5 foods and know that they’re OK to eat daily if you wish.

Healthy Foods #1 – Berries

frozen fruit for breakfast smoothiesBerries are considered superfoods, and because there are so many different berries, it’s easy to find which ones you enjoy, and that also fit easily into your lifestyle. They’re wonderfully low in calories too.

You can experiment with strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, cranberries and raspberries.  Use them for:-

  • Breakfast – in a smoothie or with yogurt
  • Ready-made snacks during the day
  • As a yummy-but-healthy evening dessert

Healthy Foods #2 – Yogurt

Like most foods, it’s important not to eat too much of it. A small tub of pro-biotic yogurt, preferably unsweetened, is ideal.

The probiotics will benefit your gut and stomach, and the protein in yogurt helps to keep you feeling full. Yogurt is a wonderful food to enjoy every day if you wish.

Healthy Foods #3 – Spinach

You can eat spinach raw along with salads, add it to your smoothies with different fruits, serve it with eggs for breakfast, or steam it and add to a roast dinner or warm curry.

I find that spinach is the easiest to eat of all the leafy green vegetables.  It has a very light flavour, which goes well with almost anything. It’s one of the best healthy foods that are safe to eat every day

Healthy Foods #4 – Nuts

Almonds, walnuts, cashews and peanuts are some of the most common nuts, and are full of goodness. Nuts are a great option for vegans too, as they are a wonderful source of good fats, leading to well-balanced nutrition.

In small quantities, nuts can help you to lose weight, maintain a healthy weight, and lower your risk of heart disease.

Healthy Foods #5 – Avocado

avocado - low pesticide residueOf course you know that that avocado is high in calories compared to other fruits. However, half an avocado a day will help you feeling fuller for longer, so many people find it’s worth it. It’s also a great source of fiber.

As with all foods, be sure to wash the food before cutting or eating it. This fruit has plenty of Vitamin K, which helps to promote better bone health. If you love avocado, you’ll be happy to know that it’s another one of the healthy foods that are safe to eat every day.

Summary

Healthy foods are good for you – and generally good for the planet too. But you CAN have too much of a good thing.

Luckily, there are some healthy foods that are safe to eat every day. So remember you can eat small quantities of berries, yogurt, spinach, nuts and avocado every day if you wish.
