Today, this short post summarises many of my blogs on home energy efficiency.
Great home energy efficiency tips are:
- Plant trees to make your home energy efficient by providing free shade in summer and reduce your cooling costs;
- Use energy-efficient light bulbs (CFLs or LEDs);
- Replace very old windows with modern ones which offer greater home energy efficiency – or opt for the cheaper, easier option of insulating around them
- Reduce your cooling costs and make your home energy efficient by correctly positioning your air conditioning units.
Energy-efficient light bulbs cost more to buy, but last MUCH longer than normal (incandescent) bulbs.
Making changes to improve your home energy efficiency will not only save you money on utility bills but also may enable you to get rebates or grants from your local government, so it’s a win-win!

I have started with replacing lamps . Vegetation placement around the outside of the house , to alter temperature inside is a good idea .
Another excellent post. There are simple things that we can all do that can reduce our damage to this great planet we live on.
Using CFL or LED lights is one simple step. I hated the difference in light quality when I first converted but I am used to it now and feel much better about doing something to help.
