Easy Ways to Keep Cool and Save Money
Air-conditioning is very convenient, but it also costs money to run. Save money – and be kind to the environment – with these easy alternatives:
Put an ice cube on your pulse points.
Yes, it’s quick, easy and cheap! Put an ice cube in a handkerchief or wash cloth and place it on your wrists and/or neck. It will cool you down quickly.
Wear a wet bandana
Put cold water on a bandana then tie it around your head. It won’t do much for your hairstyle, but you’ll keep cool! Wet the bandana again as needed.
Soak your feet in cold water
Fill a small tub or container with cold water and soak your feet for a while – it is very refreshing. If you are lucky enough to have a swimming pool, but don’t have time for a swim, sit on the edge and dangle your feet in the water for a quick cooling off.
Keep a spray bottle in the fridge
Keep a small spray bottle full of water in the refrigerator. Mist your face and neck with the cold water to keep cool.
The great thing about all of these tips is that they cost you almost nothing!

The spray bottle idea works well on a long car trip as well . Keeps the cat off the kitchen bench as a bonus.
A friend of mine said he once painted the bottom of his shoes white. The reason is that it reflects the heat coming off the pavement; helping to keep his feet cool.

Wow! I’m already cooler! Those are great ideas.
Hey, hey, hey! OK the ice cube on the pulse points really works and so does the feet soaking. I would also point out that even a minimum lesson on air conditioning efficiency would help people save money.
