How to Save Money on Groceries – 5 Cool Tips

5 Different Ways – How to Save Money on Groceries

Of course, you already know all the usual advice on how to save money on groceries.  You probably already do these things:

  • Shop from a list – so you don’t buy unnecessary items
  • Buy food in season when it’s fresh and cheaper
  • Eat before you go shopping – because buying groceries while you’re hungry is a bad idea
  • Use coupons for items you need
  • Look for food you need that’s on sale

And these are all very good rules to shop by!

But did you know there are some other, interesting ways to reduce your grocery bills? Let’s look at them.

These meats drop to about a quarter of the price right after the holiday. Buy them and freeze them for later in the year.

How to Save Money on Groceries – Interesting Tip #2 – Shop With a Friend

Of course you know that food purchased in bulk is significantly less expensive.

But storing large quantities of food is not always possible.

Consider also if your friend has different storage from you. For example, you might have a large pantry, but limited freezer space. You friend might have a tiny pantry but a large freezer. Work out your storage so you both benefit.

How to Save Money on Groceries – Interesting Tip #3 – Learn To Preserve

Learn to can, bottle and preserve food. Produce tends to really go on sale during certain times of the year.

Additionally, canning supplies are really inexpensive, and preserved foods taste a whole lot better than store-bought canned items.

The cost of flour, eggs, milk and oil is about a tenth of the price of a box of frozen waffles.
