Do this now to avoid groundhog day repeats this year

Will You Face the Same Problems This Year? (Again). Avoid Groundhog Day Repeats by Doing This Now

Ah, Groundhog Day. You know about it of course – the film starring Bil Murray showed him reliving February 2nd over and over again. Do you feel like that sometimes? Did you make a New Year’s resolution to lose weight – and then didn’t? Or did you lose a few pounds – and then put them back on again?

You’re not alone!

So many people make great Resolutions – and then the next New Year comes around again, and they’re back in the same situation, needing to make the same resolution, again.

If you want to avoid that nasty Groundhog Day feeling of not meeting your New Year’s resolutions (again), keep reading.

These tips will help you to stick to your plan to lose weight – and keep it off.

Lose Weight by NOT Dieting

If you stick to a diet – WeightWatchers, paleo, DASH or any other diet plan – you WILL lose weight. But there’s a problem.

Once you lose that weight, as soon as you go back to “normal” eating, the weight magically re-attaches itself to you. And it seems even more difficult to get rid of it.

So, my most important tip today is to stop thinking about dieting, and start thinking about lifestyle changes that you can  make – and that you’ll be able to stick to long-term.

And of course, I have the perfect lifestyle change to suggest to you!

Nutrient-Dense

One of the biggest problems, when you’re trying to lose weight, is feeling hungry, or craving some food you know isn’t healthy. You don’t want to de-rail all your progress.

Instead, you want to make sure you feel full, so that you won’t go hunting for a “snack” (which normally means lots of calories).

You need to make sure that what you’re eating fills you up, is healthy, yummy, easy to prepare and gives you lots of nutrients so you don’t get cravings or feel hungry.

Sounds difficult, doesn’t it?

For example, a green salad is very healthy, but it doesn’t fill you up (unless you add protein). Breakfast cereal is very convenient and quick, but it often contains lots of sugar and generally, it isn’t totally healthy.

smoothieBut homemade smoothies are super-healthy (if you make them correctly), yummy (if you make them correctly), easy to prepare (if you prep them correctly), and nutrient-dense, so you feel full and satisfied for hours.

Replace a Meal

So, replace at least one meal with one nutrient-dense smoothie each day.

If you choose a weight-loss smoothie (click the picture below for recipes) instead of a meal, you’ll have some calories spare for that day – a  calorie deficit, which means you’ll lose weight.

Will you lose a ton of weight by replacing one meal a day with a healthy, weight-loss smoothie? No.

But you’ll develop a habit that’s easy to stick to. Homemade smoothies are healthy AND yummy, and they fill you up. They tick all the boxes!

And that means that you’re well on your way to having a calorie deficit – so you’ll lose weight. Gradually. And you’ll keep it off, because the smoothie habit is easy to stick to. Especially when you prep properly – keep reading!

Proper Prep is Key

The way I make my smoothie-instead-of-a-meal habit stick is by preparing my smoothies for the week ahead, over the weekend, when I have more time.

If you plan to replace breakfast, for example, with a healthy weight-loss smoothie, it’s easy to say goodbye to your good intentions when real life intervenes. Mornings may be rushed. You might not be in the mood for spending time in the kitchen.

No problem!

Plan out your smoothies for the week ahead, and put the ingredients (not the liquid) into freezer bags or boxes.

Your smoothies don’t all have to be the same, like in this pic. You can have a different one each day if you wish!

Then you simply grab a bag from the freezer, add liquid, and blend. Your smoothie is ready in just 3 minutes – and you can take it with you if you wish!

If you buy fresh produce, chop and bag it into one-portion sizes and freeze. Frozen veggies and fruit are useful – they’re top quality and they’re all ready-prepared (no chopping or peeling).

(Don’t buy pre-made smoothies unless you are sure there’s nothing else added – you might unknowingly sabotage your weight-loss resolution. When you make your own, you know exactly what goes into them).

Why This Works

Healthy, yummy weight-loss smoothies not only reduce your calorie intake (helping you to shed excess weight), but they are also healthy, nutrient-dense (so you won’t feel hungry), and (most importantly) yummy!

Weight-loss smoothies are an easy lifestyle change that will help you to lose weight – and keep it off.

Weight-loss smoothies will make sure that you don’t repeat your weight issues. February 2nd is Groundhog Day – make sure you’re setting yourself up for success in 2021!
