These Green and Eco-Friendly Parking Tips Are a Great Way To Lower Your Carbon Footprint!
This is a Guest Post by Ian Todd
Editor’s Note:- I have to admit that I hadn’t really given a great deal of thought to parking when it comes to living green. Cars are a significant part of our carbon footprint, so it makes sense to look at them when trying to be kind to the environment. But, like most people I suspect, I was thinking of car engines and fuel economy. That’s why I was delighted with these eco-friendly parking tips, together with a great infographic – check it all out below!
Have You Considered Eco-Friendly Parking Tips?
More and more people are embracing hybrid engines or opting for alternative fuels to reduce their ecological footprints. Undoubtedly, these efforts contribute to cleaner air and reduced dependence on nonrenewable resources, but they can’t solve every problem.
Were you aware that parking your car can contribute to pollution?
Think about how much time you might spend searching for the perfect parking spot. In a congested city, you might spend as many as 20 minutes circling for an ideal space. That translates to wasted fuel and unnecessary emissions.
Luckily though, thinking about your parking habits and making some strategic changes can definitely help to lower your impact on the environment.
Top Eco-Friendly Parking Tips
Here are some simple ideas – and you’ll find lots more in the infographic below:-
- If you have multiple errands to run within a few blocks, why not leave your car in one spot and walk to each location? Moving your car every time you complete a task wastes resources and requires you to experience the frustration of searching for a parking space more times than absolutely necessary.
- In fact, it’s a good idea to skip the process of hunting for the closest spot entirely and just take the first one you find. You may have to walk a little farther, but at least you won’t be contributing to air pollution in the meantime. (And you’ll get a little exercise too).
- Of course, you can reduce your ecological impact even more by using public transportation to get around the city instead of driving your car.
Every little bit helps when it comes to reducing the impact we have on the environment. The next time you need to drive somewhere, be mindful of whether your parking habits are as eco-friendly as they could be. For additional ideas on how you can improve them, take a look at the accompanying chart.
