5 Yummy Healthy Breakfast Smoothies

A Different Smoothie for Each Day of the Week – All Yummy, Healthy Breakfast Smoothies!

You’ve heard it before. “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day”. And that’s because it is! A healthy, nourishing and satisfying breakfast sets you up for the rest of the day, and you’re less likely to crave snacks.

But mornings can be hectic. All too often, it’s easier to skip a healthy breakfast – and that’s not good. So here are 5 breakfast smoothies that are so easy to prepare you’ll have them ready in just two minutes – and they’re so yummy you’ll actually WANT to make them!

5 breakfast smoothies

We’ll get to the simple recipes now – but first, here are 3 great tips that will make your smoothies and juices even easier to make!

Breakfast Smoothies Tip #1 – Add Liquid First

If you use frozen fruit to make your smoothies, you need to know that some blenders don’t cope very well with it. Luckily, there’s an easy workaround. Add your liquid first into the blender – it helps the blades go more easily so your blender runs more smoothly.

Breakfast Smoothies Tip #2 – Use Frozen Fruit

Smoothies taste even better when they’re chilled and cool. But if you add ice, you’re watering them down, and that’s not ideal.

You can buy frozen fruit easily – but check the ingredients before you buy. Some brands add sugar, and that’s not good. You want just pure fruit.

Or you can take fresh fruit and freeze it yourself. (That way, you know EXACTLY what goes into it, and you’re choosing the best, freshest fruit too). Chop up the fruit and spread it onto a single layer, then freeze it. (That way, it won’t all clump together).

Breakfast Smoothies Tip #3 – Pre-package Your Frozen Fruit

If your mornings are really hectic, then take a few minutes over the weekend to pre-package your fruit into single servings, and leave them in the freezer. Then all you need to do in the morning is roll out of bed, pour one package into your blender with a little bit of yogurt and some juice and you’re ready to go!

Full-Fat, Low-Fat or Fat-Free?

I use only full-fat products, because low-fat and fat-free foods have all the goodness processed out of them, and artificial ingredients added in. If you’re trying to lose weight, processed foods won’t help you. You’re better off enjoying a small amount of full-fat food.

Now let’s move on to the recipes!

You can add any fruit and vegetables you like! Always be sure to include vegetables in your juices and smoothies, and not just fruit.

turmeric for breakfast smoothiesIf you want to use a smoothie as a meal replacement, add some protein powder, it will bulk it up and make you feel fuller. Peanut butter will do the same (but with more calories).

You won’t taste most vegetables, so breakfast smoothies are a great way to give kids (and adults!) their veggies!

And don’t forget to sprinkle on chia seeds or hemp seeds or a couple of nuts.

Be Prepared

Buy and freeze lots of fruit and vegetables, so you’ve always got some in stock. Spend a bit of time getting everything ready for the week ahead – you’ll be glad you did, when you have a manic Monday morning – your breakfast smoothies are ready almost instantly!
